Cutting and piecing tips
Flannel is a great choice for winter quilt projects but it is different than working with regular quilting cotton. Flannel tends to be more stretchy and can shift under the presser foot, so pin everything before piecing. The bulkier fabric makes an accurate seam allowance very important; make sure to sew everything with a consistent scant 1/4 inch seam.
Refer to the detailed cutting and block piecing instructions on pages three through six in the free pattern PDF.
Assemble the quilt top using the diagram on page seven.
Quilting and finishing tips
Quilt as desired. Flannel is easy and fun to quilt on the longarm. When quilting over seams, particularly intersections where several pieces of fabric come together (like star points), be aware that flannel seams can be thicker and ‘taller’ than traditional quilting cottons.
Bind the quilt.
